The Littlest Ballerina Reflection
I added my “The Littlest Ballerina” story to my senior portfolio because it’s a genre that’s a lot more different than any other English project I’ve made before. I made this story for my 9th grade Honors English class for a unit we were covering in class. The unit we were studying was children’s books and “outcast” characters in books, t.v., movies, etc. We had to make a children’s book about a character whose an outcast that faces a conflict and gets a “happily ever after”. When I heard about the assignment I automatically wanted to make a fairy tale themed book. So for my story I made my children’s book about a young girl named Flo who goes to a ballet school and is an outcast there. It’s kind of like a ballet version of the classic fairy tale The Ugly Duckling. I really enjoyed making this project because it was fun to make a children’s story, which was something that I had never done before. And because I got to experiment and use the third person narrative and write dialogue between all of the character.
