The Littlest Ballerina: The Tale of Flo the Prima Ballerina
Deep in the forested and part of Colorado there was an academy and not just any
academy, a ballet academy. An academy where girls are taught how to master the
art of the ballet and of becoming a prima ballerina. Girls from all over the
country flock to this school like birds in the sky to join. The ballet academy
is “Enchanting Dancers School for Girls” where girls from all around the world
go to become famous, professional and wonderful ballerinas. Because everybody
knows that“Enchanting Dancers School for Girls” is the best and most well-known
school for ballet in the country. “Enchanting Dancers” has been producing ballet
star after ballet star for over six decades and has taught some of the best
ballet dancers to ever walk the stages of the ballet. And there
in the
academy there is a small girl who is just staring at the school and sticks out
like a sore thumb. Her name is Flora Anne Mayron but all her friends just call
her “Flo”for short. Flo doesn’t look like the average ballerinas at the school,
she isn’t tall and she’s very small in size. Unlike all the other girls at the
ballet school that are very tall and are normal sized. She has wispy, medium
length strawberry blonde hair and light brown eyes that resemble melted milk
chocolate. This sets he apart from all the other girls there at the school that
all have blonde or brown hair and green or blue eyes. Flo isn’t very confident
about her dancing but she wants to follow her dreams of becoming a prima
ballerina just like her mother was and her grandmother was before her. But just
like any type of school there is always the group of mean girls that make every
other ballerina’s life in the school a living nightmare. And those girls are
Piper Field, the head mean girl that has platinum blonde hair and a heart that
is as black as night and as cold as her eyes are blue. And behind Piper are her
little minions Brooke Johnson and Natalie Arnon, both brunettes with bright
green eyes. Together this group of mean girls’ mission is to crush every girl’s
confidence in the entire school.
On the day that Flo left her usually
bright and sunny hometown of San Diego it was a strangely rainy day. The rain
was as cold as ice and as sharp as knives. And the wind was very strong and
cold, and was pushing against her almost as if the city itself didn’t want her
to leave. But she knew that going to “Enchanting Dancers” was what she wanted to
do. So on the day that Flo left for “Enchanting Dancers” she left behind her
home, her friends and her family to pursue her lifelong dream. But as soon as
Flo got to “Enchanting Dances” she felt out of place and out of step
immediately. She didn’t know where to go or what to do in the large school. But
in the end she managed to get pointed in the right direction thanks to some
helpful teachers that didn’t mind helping a new student find her way around. But
finding her classes were only just the beginning for Flo. Soon she would come
face to face with the one and only mean girls, and unfortunately for Flo she had
no idea that she would also become the mean girls’ new target to humiliate and
embarrass.
It all started on the first day of school. Flo had
just arrived to the academy the day before and was still trying to unpack all
her things into her new dorm room with her new roommate. Since Flow was up all
night trying to find her leotards, slippers, and leg warmers amongst all her
boxes for ballet class the next day, she overslept and had to run to get to
class on time. As Flo was running from the dorm rooms to the school while trying
to comb her hair, put on her legwarmers, carry her
ballet slippers and brush
her teeth at the same time she accidentally bumped into a group of girls leaving
a coffee shop. Which resulted in the girls spilling their cappuccinos all over
their pretty, new back to school outfits and slightly messing up their
beautifully done makeup and hair. But unfortunately for Flo the group of girls
she made spill their cappuccinos on themselves were
the one and only mean
girls consisting, of Piper and her evil minions Brook and Natalie.
“What
is wrong with you, you freak?!” Piper exclaimed while trying to wipe the coffee
off of her new Vera Wang purse.
“I’m so sorry!” Flo said in a rush
while grabbing some napkins and trying to
hastily wipe the coffee off of
Piper’s purse.
“I really have to go!” Flo said while turning her back
and running to the school to
find her studio for class. As Flo ran off,
Piper and her group of evil minions stood there fuming over the damage that Flo
had caused to their new back to school looks.
“We are so going to make
her pay, for this” Piper said evilly. She was notorious for
making anybody
who messed with her stuff, miserable.
“Does she even know WHO we are?”
Natalie said in her usually nasally voice.
“I don’t know and I don’t
care! But whoever she is, after we’re finished with her she’ll know us” Piper
said with her angry face and her angry glare on. Piper and her minions laughed
evilly about how they were going to mess with Flo for ruining their outfits.
Over the weeks Flo had been constantly harassed by Piper and her
minions. They pulled pranks on her like putting glue in her slippers and putting
itching powder in her leotards. They called her names and always laughed while
she was performing in class. And besides the mean girls’ pranks, she was
constantly ridiculed and excluded in class by all the other girls there. They
teased her about her strawberry blonde hair, her light brown eyes and her height
and weight.
“Look at her ugly colored hair! And look at her boring and
ugly eyes!”” the girls would say.
“Look at how short she is! There’s no
way she can be a good dancer. And look at how thin she is, she’s practically
anorexic! Look at her, she’s the littlest ballerina in the whole school!” they
would laugh and snicker. They even teased her about her dancing and how bad
they thought she was, even though she was good.
“You can’t plié the way
we can. And you definitely can Coupé like we can” they would say
nastily.
But even though Flo was hurt by these mean comments, she
pretended that it didn’t bother her, but secretly it did hurt her
feelings.
“I don’t care what you say. I know that I’m a good dancer. So
just leave me alone!” Flo said while trying to hold back her tears. As soon as
she closed the door behind her leaving all the other girls behind in the studio,
she ran and her tears started to fall. She ran to the one and only place where
she knew that she could be alone and wouldn’t have to worry about being teased
-her sanctuary, the old auditorium. She sat on the stage for what felt like
forever and cried, letting all her frustrations and sadness wash away in the
tears like a stream. After a couple minutes of crying on the stage she decided
to do ballet. Since dancing ballet always made her feel better even when she was
a little girl, so she knew that it would cheer her up. She played her favorite
ballet song and danced the ballet that went with it. Flo was so concentrated and
lost in her dancing that she didn’t even know that she was being watched while
she was performing.
A young casting director named James McDaniel
that came from a long legacy of ballet directors, came to the academy in search
of a girl to become his new prima ballerina who was both beautiful on the inside
as well as on the outside and was a beautiful dancer too. After being bombarded
for the past couple of days by desperate girls trying to compete against each
other for James to choose them for his ballet. James truly didn’t see any girls
that he liked enough to put in his ballet, sure the girls were great and
wonderful dancers, but their dancing was lacking heart and passion. And even
though they were very beautiful on the outside, they weren’t on the inside. The
girls all had bad personalities and evil, jealous hearts. The girls also all
looked the same to him; the director was starting to wonder if he kept seeing
twins on accident. James knew for a fact that he definitely wanted his prima
ballerina to be unique and different from all the other girls. He decided to
find somewhere to sit, relax and think in the peace and quiet. So he decided to
go into the old auditorium, which happened to be where Flo happened to be
dancing. As soon as James opened the door and saw Flo dancing he fell in love
with her at first site. And he knew that this was the girl he definitely wanted
to be his prima ballerina. James was absolutely captivated by Flo’s amazing
dancing and by Flo herself. He could see that she was a beautiful dancer and
was a beautiful girl both inside and out. Everything about Flo was unique to
him, even her hair color and her dancing. She danced so passionately and
gracefully at the same time, like a lone feather floating through the sky. He
watched her dance her routine and fell even more in love with her as she went
on.
As soon as Flo had finished her routine and had taken her curtsy
and bow to the imaginary audience she looked up into the seats and saw the
director standing there with an awestruck look on his face. Flo gasped, for she
didn’t know that anyone was watching her.
“Who are you?” She asked in a
timid, frightful voice.
“I’m James McDaniel. And I want you to be my
prima ballerina for my new ballet” He said with a smile on his face.
“Are you sure? I don’t have beautiful blonde or brown hair and I don’t
have sparkling blue or green eyes?” She said, certain that her appearance would
make him want to change his mind.
“Yes I’m sure. I don’t want an average
looking girl like all the others, I want you” He said while walking up the
stairs of the stage to stand in front of Flo. Flo looked into James’ eyes and
saw that he could see the beautiful person and dancer that she was deep inside.
“So will you become my prima ballerina?”He asked her timidly. She looked
into his eyes and said with absolute certainty and enthusiasm.
“Yes!”
James and Flo worked together and produced a wonderful and popular
ballet that became the most popular ballet in the history of theater. Flo made
her dreams come true and became a world famous prima ballerina just like her
mother and grandmother before her. She also proved all those mean girls like
Piper,Natalie and Brooke wrong. James and Flo eventually fell in love, got
married
and started a family of their own. And now they live happily ever
after with their family. Flo always tells herself and her children that
“Sometimes the littlest ballerina can dance the biggest parts”.
